Essence of thanksgiving

The Essence of thanksgiving
It is one of my favorite holidays; it is a day to express gratitude to all those who have helped shape our lives. It is also a day to express friendship and kindness to those who are struggling with the difficulties of life, Thanksgiving is a day of sharing. It is just not you, ask Bill Gates, whom God has blessed proportionately for his intelligence, he would answer, not enough! 2. This came to me from a dear friend of mine.I am grateful to him for it because this has touched me with it's simplicity, sincerity and clarity of thought. The philosophy on life is heartwarming and simple to follow. It takes into account all the people who have moulded and influenced our lives.... surely what we are now is the product of our interaction with friends and others we have met throughout our life.... expressing thanks and counting our blessings is the best we can do to praise God, to live and let live, not just a mere existence, but a meaningful and rich existence .... one that we call LIFE! This was amazing: using a list to generate the power of gratitude whether in our thoughts or directly. On Oprah's show, the next day, she had someone on who suggested creating a gratitude box, to give to the host/hostess at a meal/family gathering. And, I expanded this to an offering to Lama Dorjee, during the fasting retreat we had from Thanksgiving weekend from after Saturday lunch, to Monday sunrise.
    Eid Mubarak! Therona
